how about everybody in the forum send a pic of how they spent their otl day?
I spent my day with this Harvard H-3 from 1965...
no complaints.
Follow Ups:
(Pls pardon my mess; I have TOO MANY poweramps!!!)
Got my much-loved and substantially improved Atma-Sphere MA-1s (v.3.1) reconnected, and they sound fabulous*.. I keep listening to the three poweramps that are candidates for my incoming HHR Exotic TLS-2s, rather insensitive at about 86dB.. I have far more poweramps than I need and am (slowly) selling the lower-powered (as in c. 30 Watts) ones.
The candidates for the TLS-2s (see link) are the 60Watts-per-chassis Allnic A-6000s (on the lowboy), the 140Watts-per-chassis MA-1s, and my 2nd pair of 600Watts-into-8-per-chassis PS Audio M1200s.. They all sound at least very good driving the MR and treble of the 96dB-sensitive Super-7s in the pic, but I always end up with a huge smile on my face when the A-Ts are making music.
I think I'll leave them in until the TLS-2s get here in early December. :-)
.
* When driving the Super-7s, I use only 4 pairs of output tubes.
Fired up the T8-LN now that the temperatures are below 110 degrees here in Sin City :)
Sounds great playing John Williams!
I will rearrange the units (someday) now that they are back in the system.
With the bitch long gone, there is no hurry now :)
Don't wrestle with pigs. You both get dirty and the pig likes it.

...version III.3.. Might see them by the 23rd.
I spend a bit of time each day rewiring my H3 (acquired as a project). Great fun for me, and the original workmanship was a fright. Looking forward to hearing the finished project, but enjoying the work !!
Went past the half way point on the rewire a week or two ago. This is the finished half (aside from a couple of wires that need to be installed at the end).
Looking good, that is the 6lf6 version correct?
Actually I have the 6HJ5 version. Not sure how much of a difference there is between the two.
This is a pic of the original wiring to put things into perspective...
'Finished' the rebuild, which I think went very nicely. When I was powering up using a variac, it turns out the transformer has troubles. Found a quality rebuilder, and should have it back in a month or two. Looking the same, but with brand new windings. Apparently they take it apart carefully, note everything during that process, and put it back as it was. Should be interesting..
take your time, it will be worth the effort when you get it up and going.
be sure to clean the pot's thoroughly or replace them with new.
