Glad you dug it. Don't know about his instrument.
Here's something farther in. He and Richie have been dueting on this tune for close to 50 years. Love Beirach's substitute chord changes.
Check it out.

I'll check it out later. One thing for sure, he's no Kenny G. He brings a deep and highly sophisticated lyricism to a genre that is often frantic, angry and incoherent.

Liebman is a master of the soprano. I am surprised you missed him.
Geo, I don't have the encyclopedic level of knowledge and experience that some of the people here have. Since I am so picky as to what I buy and what I want to listen to I don't pay much attention to a lot of players that don't grab me. As to Liebman maybe he wasn't played much on the local jazz station. Out playing isn't something I listen too in general but his playing is spectacular. I listened to JJ's Neo and liked it. Might have to get that cd. Seems like we a good bit of overlap in taste in music. I'll keep putting up what I thing are gems. Maybe we can do a little bit to expand the interest in jazz with the new forum. I recently overheard a fairly well know jazz musician saying that they almost have to pay to play now. Sad. T456

Man you know a lot of music! I just figured you had to know Liebman. Did you see the story on Jessica Williams? Homeless and no piano. Medical bills. It's sad.
