Once again, you have to scroll way down to the bottom to get to the results table. The results are pretty clear - 28 to 9 in favor of separate forums. I'll pass this info on to Rod. And just to summarize what I'm also going to propose: since Classical Court exists already, the classical posters can move there, while the Jazz, World Music, etc posters could stay here on the Music Forum, which would be renamed to Jazz Alley, per hifitommy's original post. Both the Classical Court and Jazz Alley names and links would need to be added to the home page here, as well as to the top of all of the other forums (where all the links are).
One problem is that the past classical discussions would remain here on the Music forum, even after it became Jazz Alley - which doesn't make a lot of sense. I don't know if Rod has an easy way to move these older classical discussions to classical court. Indeed, Rod may want to proceed in a completely different way from what I'm proposing. For instance, he may want to create a separate Jazz Alley forum and leave the existing music forum in place as an area for general discussions about music not connected to any specific genre. In any case, he or I will let you know.
Thank you all for voting and for your interest as we move to our Brave New Worlds! ;-)

Hello Chris - I haven't been able to read much on here nearly as much as I used to, and I came this morning after an absence of over a week and discovered there are plans to move all of the classical discussion to some other forum I have never heard of and don't see a link for? If this does indeed happen, please make it very obvious how to get there, especially for those of us not able to check in daily.! Thanks!
Chris, any estimate of when this is going to happen?

Outstanding! Chris
Hey Chris. What am I missing? What and where is classical court?
Alan
. . . but here are the remnants of the last time it appeared (link below). And it already has its own mission statement: "Dead composers fan club. From Bach to Vivaldi to Britney, it's all here". I like it! (So the jazzers can keep the "It's all about the music, dude! Sit down, relax and listen to some tunes" statement from Music Lane. The only thing is that Classical Court doesn't appear to have had its security hardened, like the rest of AA.
I'm not sure why it doesn't turn up under the link, but Classical Court had a good bit of traffic for a brief window back around 2000. See, for example, a thread I started under my prior moniker. There's plenty more out there somewhere.
Happy listening,
Jim

"Sit down, relax and listen to some tunes......."
Stockhausen would be delighted!
I vote we vote on who can keep the leader. Or at at least vote on whether or not to vote on who can keep it. I vote yes to both!

I'm Mutating as we speak,
only listening to Jazz before 1950.
My tongue has an appealing glow now, too...
Jazz, before 1950?

We need to split the group for anything past 1955.
