I'll even promise to curtail my sarcasm (not). Although I kind of like some of these wordy dissertations on the music I'm not good at them myself. My main thing is to expose and get exposed to great music. Ultimately it's the music that has to speak. It is increasingly difficult for me to find new stuff as I've been around for awhile and am very picky. I'ts quite clear that some people out there have vastly more experience than I. I also think that inexperienced listeners could gain a lot from it. On all to rare occasion my recommendations to the uninitiated were appreciated. Lots of young people don't even know who Chet Baker was. T456

I think you're right about inexperienced people, especially younger ones. It's really distressing these days when I attend concerts or go to clubs to see that virtually every attendee is near my age-which is not young! I really don't know what the answer is because jazz, which has historically had a relatively small audience, gets so little exposure in the mass markets and as a result seems to have an increasingly diminishing following.
