Just listened to a solo piano recording of Racmaninoff music including the 2nd sonata and Correlli Variations. The artist is a 45 year old Russian-Dutch pianist by the name of Evelina Vorontsova. Her last recording was done in 2002. Where has she been. I believe she is a great talent. A combination of beauty and great power. The recording was done in a monestary on a Steinway. A lot of reverb and a huge piano sound with very deep base. This is the current Stereophile magazine recording of the month. Reviewer Robert Levine asks "one wonders why she is not more famous and signed to a major label?" I also wonder. What do you guys think. It is on Tidal

Follow Ups:
I bought her Rachmaninoff CD when it first came out. The Corelli Variations was mostly luminescent and insightful, but to me, not top tier because, because, ya know, a whole lot of competition with Rocky music. As for the rest of the CD? Good, but did this supplant the best in my (admittedly too large) collection?
Overall, I liked the CD, I enjoyed listening to it, and I'd say it's a good listen for streaming (although I don't do streaming myself). But I got rid of the CD knowing I'd rarely, if ever, play it again.
Of course, that's just me and I lay no claim to perfect ears or expert taste.

I hadn't heard of her before, so I checked a couple of her uTube videos - it was really hard for me to tell much, since most of the performances seemed to be swimming in waves of reverberation. I unfortunately don't have access to the new recording, and I wish I did, since I'd like to hear her in a more favorable acoustic.
Did you try this?

But I'm still not finding it all that compelling - not that it's bad or anything. I'd still like to hear her in better SQ.
