Sheesh!
Total rip-off at PSM...

$22? 8.40 gbp for 24/192 from Chandos and that includes VAT @ 20%!
morning, between this release and the Handel on Delphian.
condescending. It's a really good performance, even in one channel.
my reviews appear in my column, Music in the Round, which is focussed on multichannel. Non-multichannel stuff is covered by others.
If it comes out in 5 channel I'm sure you will be very pleased.
The issue is whether anyone else can buy it on the open market.
.
BTW, do we think that the MTT version will be that much better (or even better at all) than the RCO Live Gatti/Concertgebouw album (also in multichannel) is? I know some folks think that many of the RCO Live albums are a bit distantly recorded, but even so. . .
That's an issue for me. I have a copy but I will not publish a review unless it is available for purchase somewhere.
This is similar to the problems in distribution of the Seattle SO multichannel files which seem to have been resolved, periodically.
Excellent - I appreciate and applaud your principled stance!
Thanks. While we are on the topic: Has anyone seen the new Ives from Seattle in 5.1?
This one? It's available from Primephonic.

Downloadind now. Imho MTT is at his best in such music.
Now $19.99.
HDT still $6.99.
I must have Justice!
Which would be about all that I could take, so it's about right.
QOBUZ just released it so I'll see if I can sit through 23 minutes of Berg later today.
Might be easier at 16/44.1.
$6.99 Good.
$21.99 Bad.

Said I have a valid point, and they will check with their distributor about it!

OK, probably best not.
BERGBERGBERGBERGBERGBERGBERGBERGBERGBERGBERGBERGBERGBERG, AND SO FORTH.
I love Berg, I guess I'm the only one here...
.
US!!!
He's not as bad as Webern.
Granted further, Wozzeck is a work to be reckoned with whether you find the music 'lyrical' or no.

And I would have purchased it without a listen, back in the day when I bought just about everything I found in used record stores.
Aside from the fact that the Dorati performances are available only as 2-channel incarnations (on vinyl or CD), I wonder if ANY subsequent performances were really any better. I mean, the Mercury years were the era of Dorati in his prime, and those 35 mm recordings were (IMHO) the apex of Mercury's recording technology!
It's OK, a bit opaque, but IMHO it doesn't hold a candle to the Dorati Prokofiev Scythian/Orange Suites.
Nevertheless, de gustibus and all that.
,
. . . it seems that you picked one of the most outstanding recordings of its era as an example of being opaque - just seemed a little perverse, that's all. ;-)
Minnesota, or the Copland Rodeo with Dorati. Maybe the CD is better.Edit, I forgot to mention the famous (but boring) Dorati Firebird.

Don't listen too often, but enjoy when I do. Seven Early Songs of course is very listenable, but I really like Wozzek.
piece to judge. Good reviews though.
With Staatskapelle Dresden, David Robertson conducting. It's from his 2 CD set of 1930s concertos - don't know if it's available for download. It's a very warm and "romantic" reading.
I love Berg, albeit selectively, as does my SO. A fun evening in for us can be watching a blu-ray of Lulu or Wozzek.
Suk/Ancerl/Czech Phil is one of my favorite versions of the Berg Violin Concerto. Not only is it expressively played and conducted, but the sound engineering allows you to hear everything going on in the orchestra quite clearly--I've listened to it along with the score.I originally bought it on this budget LP (love the cover); now I have the CD, where it's coupled with Suk's Mendelssohn and Bruch concerti:

I haven't heard it, but in the opening passage, the Harp and Clarinets should should be beautiful and rich, tho soft.
The sax shouldn't be annoying...
Can you hear sample tracks?
a few reviewers said Faust's up-front sound robs the music of a bit of atmosphere, but still, I can't think of anything she's done that doesn't make me marvel.
Just in case you're not aware of this, on eClassical you can keep going in 30-second increments (through the end of the track) by clicking the 'play' button.

too, but hard to get a feel for recording quality through earbuds or computer speakers.
