Hello All,
I am using Rolling Stones top 500 Albums to fill in my LP collection for rock. I have looked on Google for a similiar Jazz list. I have found four or five and was wondering if anyone could suggest a similiar list. They are all quite different so I figured I would ask the experts here for a recommended list. I do not care if it is 25 LP's or 1000 Lp's. I want to compare my collection to something.
Regards
Richard

It's... OK... pretty basic, BUT much has been added in various threads and at this point it's... free jazz.

Other than that I'd say, the one at the link is decent and historically strong,
but no Sonny Sharrock, Horace Tapscott OR Bill Frisell!

I am not sure what you want to achieve. Are you trying to form a record collection that has personal meaning to you or are you just collecting a list of things in a completist kind of sense like someone who otherwise may collect matchboxes or coins? If you just want a list to check off as you buy then fine but otherwise you cannot find desirable music for your tastes via someone else's list even if it is Rolling Stone. 500 albums and you may hate to listen to 499 of them for all I know.
If you want to have a decent music collection then listen to the radio , go to live gigs, maybe use a streaming service. Then buy what appeals to you and don't give a screw for anyone else's opinion or list of what they think is "best".

There are folks here who know plenty more than a simple google search can reveal, and you well know that, since you're one of them. ;-)
