Yeah - I think I'd rather have classical music represented by babe musicians (although I guess everybody's innocent until proven guilty - even if they're not 'murkans)! ;-)

So, a couple of hours ago, I'm telling the Leipzig String Quartet story to one of the local violin teachers I play for. (He's a Julliard grad who was in the same class as Nadia Solerno-Sonenberg.) He replies that, in that same Julliard class, there was a violist, whose name he happened to see in the Oakland Tribune some years ago under the headline, "Violist Arrested in Attempt to Burn Down Conductor's House". (I guess the conductor must have said something to him that he didn't like - LOL!) This incident occurred in another state, and he didn't mention whether the guy was actually convicted. In any case, the guy now plays in one of the two top-tier orchestras here in California (I'm not saying whether it's SF or LA), after having changed his last name in the meantime! ;-)

or, at least, Jokes:
A Violist comes home to find his home burned down, his wife and daughter raped and murdered.
He asked, what happened?
A cop tells him that the Conductor of the Orchestra he was in did it,
and he replied, "the Maestro? Came Here?"

What's up with that?

Jeez.
Too many lawyers, not enough who can think.

even if, or especially if, his story is true. I used to shake my head in wonder at German and Japanese tourists in NYC who would casually set Leica or Nikon cameras on the table or seat next to them in busy restaurants. They seemed completely unaware of their dangerous and vulnerable situation they were putting themselves in. They were probably used to doing such things without worry back home.
Most travelers use much smaller and easier to conceal cameras these days, but those who prey on unwary tourists in other ways remain. I'm a big fan of that quartet, I hope everything turns out OK.
I just checked and the only release of theirs that I have is the Brahms Op. 18 Sextet (with friends) coupled with the Brahms Op. 67 String Quartet. I like the performances, although I'm not on board with MDG's "2+2+2" engineering on the multi-channel DVD-Audio.
