Toss up for me yesterday between Mozart and Handel. This time Handel won!

WAM to know that it's not new.
Haydn to be reminded that being here is a GIFT and a blast!
Beethoven to know that having a go and shirt-fronting a few folk, is a plain duty.

Satchmo because .... AND, he and JH would have dug each other.
The Beatles to be young and idealistic, without knowing how hard really changing things, really IS.

" Once this was all Black Plasma and Imagination." -Michael McClure
Very relaxing, very therapeutic, just plain nice. In this CD, Nancy Lesh (a classically trained cello virtuoso) employs special playing techniques and a specially modified instrument to perform two Indian Ragas. Unique and delicious!

It depends on my mood.If feeling down, there's always Rachmaninov's Second Symphony, The Isle of the Dead, or maybe Toshiro Mayuzumi's tone poem, Samsara.
Haydn's Symphonies Nos. 22, 24, and 77, along with Kraus's Violin Obbligato symphony are nice.
Beethoven's Pastorale is pleasant.
On the other hand, sometimes I want something big and noisy, such as the Mussorgsky-Ravel Pictures at an Exhibition, Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries with real valkyries, or some Rossini or Suppe Overtures.
Edit: Gee, I forgot PP & M. Peter, Paul and Mary, greatest hits.

Especially by Beethoven, Brahms, Chopin, Debussy, Schubert and Schumann. For real relaxation from stress, including turning off the analysis of content or performance, I usually go for artist's compilations. Horowitz, Earl Wild, and Carol Rosenberger to name a few. The last I think specialized in music for relaxation and her recordings are excellent. I love the names on her recordings (by Delos): Perchance to Dream, Nightmoods, Singing on the Water, Water Music of the Impressionists, Reverie, such stuff as Dreams, and lastly Baby needs Lullabys.
Bach supposedly wrote the Goldberg Variations for a high-level diplomat who suffered from neuralgia and couldn't sleep.
And what could be better on Sunday morning than going to Carolina in your mind?

A few years ago I was lucky enough to attend a dance performance by the New York Ballet Co accompanied by a live performance of the first movement - spine chilling.

The Little Orch of London, Leslie Jones, conductor, on Nonesuch. I also like Vivaldi and Bach to relax to.....and baroque composers in general.
