Do you know anyone who has heard both? I've heard the on-walls but only as part of a Tri-Center system, so can't say from personal experience. I do have the impression that they're pretty close to the floor standers, but few have a chance to hear them since most dealers don't carry them. You basically have a similar lineup of drivers from 100 Hz on up, and a couple of DWM's should give you comparable bass extension.

IAE no matter how well on-walls might sound, I think behind the wall wiring is required to meet anyone's acceptance factor. (Wiring laid on the floor taught that I'm unable to fly.)
Good point. Well, I guess some people don't care, aren't some flat screen TV's mounted on the wall with visible wires? It's really easy to run the wire through the wall, though, just punch a couple of holes in the sheetrock and fish the cable through. Those who don't have a fish tape can use a straightened coat hanger and some masking tape. Or just have the dealer do it.
