Dan is pitching in as best he can, and it can't be easy seeing Mart in such a situation. I asked Dan to and he is trying to see if fruit baskets or flowers are allowed in the hospital. I know some of us here would want to send something to cheer up Mart a little.
Interestingly, Dan seems to be cooking up a music-maintenance strategy for Mart already. A while ago Dan and I had discussed stuff about his computer-based playback, which he was polishing up at the time. It now appears that this system may move to Mart's new [nursing] home in the future, as it is compact enough.
GL, this gave me an idea which you may be able to help coordinate and/or enhance, if it makes sense? If Magnepan is game -- providing some kind special price -- perhaps we all could buy Mart a Mini Maggies system that should easily fit in his new quarters?

I asked Dan if he had a paypal account and whether he's willing to publish it; if so folks can send donations in that direction.I considered a gofundme account but with me working two jobs I wouldn't be able to do such an endeavor with the justice it deserves. If there's someone willing (and with Dan's blessing) to take it on I'd say go for it.

Good ideas; I saw your original post, now erased, also. Let's see what Dan has to say on the Paypal account thing. I'll also go check your link to the other place, in case it is the way to go.
You mentioned the headphones, which I think is a great option to consider. I suppose a pair of electrostatics, or perhaps Oppo's new series of planar magnetic ones could do the job well, if speakers are too much. (Meaning too much SPL for a nursing home to accept). We may also want to drop Wendell a note to see what Magnepan would be willing to accept for a set of minis, for this particular exceptional cause.
Depending on Dan's and, hopefully, Mart's input, we should then be able to set something good in motion. Like you, I don't have a lot of free time these days. However, my wife will abandon me for a few weeks starting tomorrow. I had scheduled more tests & music listening with the new tweaks (bass) but, well, important things go first.
