These things are British. My father used to say, "Never trust the British to build anything larger than a hat."
(QUAD products notwithstanding)

Let's see. The Linn Sondek turntable, B&W speakers, Spendor BC1's, Lotus race cars, the parliament building. I think we'd be able to find a few other things bigger than a hat that the British build well, right. :-)

I have built a pair using 7 foot by 2.5 foot 1/4inch Gatorfoam(polystyrene core, sandwiched between two layers of resin impregnated wood fibre composite known as LUXCELL).
I have six NXT exciters mounted vertically at the rear of the panels. The sound is FANTASTIC. The panels have not yet been mounted in frames as yet, but initial results are outstanding.

like the Spitfire and the Hurricane which won the battle of Britain against all odds. Bigger than a hat, I think.
The list goes on and on and on. Do the Brits make some bad products, I guess so, but so do we, so do the Russians and Chinese, and back a bunch of years ago, so did the Japanese, in spades. How about the Korean Kia? The highly touted and expensive German Mercedes has a very poor reliability record, in spite of it's luxury and popularity. But, no one would suggest that Germany makes poor quality stuff.
IMHO, when it comes to hifi gear, some of the best designs have come from the UK.

I thought there was an issue about the reliability of those Rolls Royce engines (which were abused beyond reason) until the introduction of an oil treatment that we Yanks developed - Krex (use it in my cars - good stuff).

the North American P-51 Mustang. Installing the RR Merlin transformed it from an average fighter plane to the greatest of WWII.
