I can remember lusting after that Linn turntable in the late '70s! At the time I had a Perpetuum Ebner, but I had those advertising slicks for the Linn LP12 and an Empire table which I used to oggle from time to time.
My stand would just be attached to ordinary wallboard - well, structurally, it would be attached to 2x4s on an internal wall (behind the plane of and between the speakers, or possibly to the outside of the right one). Would it need to be made from aluminum or could wood also work? This is like the idea I had for my speakers - it's been rolling around in my mind for a couple years now and, although I don't have a written plan, I do have a 'working mental model'. One of these days, I'm just going to have to let it out - maybe it's time!

Follow Ups:
I bought a L12 in '76 to replace a TD125. The latter is still kicking while what remains of the former sits in a junk pile in my basement. Since I'm a long standing member of AARP the whole issue sounds irrelevant nowadays.
Of course, you have to attach the wall-shelf to the "studs" (as we call them ) behind the plaster sheet but if you can figure out how to attach two wooden braces shaped like this:

... to the studs then I would think they should make good supports for the shelf!! :-))
Good luck!

When I said 2x4s on an internal wall, I meant that the 2x4s were *in* that internal wall (we call 'em studs too), but the shelf would be on it. Looking back, it was a bad sentence - a bit on the nebulous side.
Okay - it's a go for the wallmounted, wood TT stand!
