Any 'Steel Pulse' fans here? I was really into their early stuff like 'True Democracy', 'Babylon The Bandit', and 'Earth Crisis'. They got a bit 'sidetracked' in the 90's, going after a more polished pop sound, which many fans thought was their demise. However, they are back stronger than ever with their latest 2004 release called 'African Holocaust', which stylistically sounds like their older stuff. Thankfully, Mr. Hines and company are back with a vengeance!!! Has anyone else listened to 'African Holocaust'?
Follow Ups:
It's fantastic. It really rocks. The sound is pretty good too for something of that genre. Don't know much of their early stuff but this is definately not Pop in any way.
but I always kind of felt like the death of SKA also meant the death of reggae, - I was just starting my band and we were more influenced by, and were listening more to bands like the Fall, Pixies, Husker Du, Squirrel Bait, They Might be Giants, The Jesus and Mary Chain, etc. We were pretty wound up about Lynton Kwesi Johnson and Black Uhuru. UB40 had already started their "pop run," and were getting a lot of disdain from our crowd...
What was the name of your band, and are there samples of your music anywhere on the web?

I had friends recommend Steele Pulse to me over the years, but I finally took a serious listen to Handsworth a few weeks ago, and it's one of those albums that I somehow missed and feel a little tinge of regret for not having picked it up sooner. It's really a top-notch album.
I haven't heard the new one. I'll have to check it out. I listen to True Democracy quite often. Other than that I've only heard the anthology that was released by Island (Sound System) that covers 1978 to 1980.
