It's not so bad up here.
In addition to West End, Bulimba might be a worth thinking about. Nice social life there and a quick hop across the river on the ferry. Lots of slightly unfashionable apartment buildings.
You might like to think of Mount Mee and Boonah for future moves.Mount Mee has the most wonderful views to the north9ish) and Boonah is likely to get a rail link into the city. It's only 68Km out.
I looked their myself and will do so again when I want to move on.
Follow Ups:
No, Ferny Hills is really nice. Quiet and leafy. Pretty.
I visited Mt Mee a while back. A really nice place that I put out of my mind because it was just a little too far out of town at the time. That may not be relevent in a few years tho. Back on the list with a bullet.
I see two blokes hanging out on Mt Mee, listening to off-kilter tunes, talking left-of-centre politics, as a good ol' QLD storm rolls in from the west. Hey, that actually sounds great!
Cheers Dave
... of land and you can see forever.
Or nothing in a storm!
I was there once and I watched the Glasshouse Mountains disappear in cloud.
Only a few houses there right on the edge.
Not too expensive at present because as you say, it's just that little way from town.
But...
