I discovered this Chinese manufacturer a couple of years ago and became very interested in their products, especially FiiO digital players and FiiO IEM earphones. When I first discovered FiiO they made IEM earphones using multiple drivers in each earpiece. Some of their expensive earphones have as many as five and six drivers in each earpiece. Normally, they have one dynamic driver and several balanced armature drivers. They sound very good and they're also quite comfortable. However, just recently, they came out with some expensive single dynamic driver earphones that seem to sound even better than their multiple driver systems. I'm just curious if any of you own FiiO earphones.
I recently bought their new EM5 earbud style single dynamic driver earphone and although it sounds slightly better than their multiple driver earphones, it's not as comfortable as their IEM style earphones. However, they just came out with an IEM single dynamic driver earphone and it seems to be the best of both worlds. The cost is only $300 for either of these and they sound spectacular to me. If any of you own FiiO earphones, I'd like to know what you think about them.
Thanks!

John, I'm sorry I bought a set on your recommendation. They sounded quite good But I can't use earbuds as I have only on functional hand. I use my Focal Elears instead.
I have the M11 driving a set of FH5 in ear monitors (amongst others), superb combination. The M11 drives some of my more efficient headphones
exceptionally well.
I used to own the M11, but I gave it to my son-in-law and upgraded to the M11 Pro. I still have the M11 Pro but I also bought the M15 and I use the M15 exclusively for my digital front-end even though I also own a Mytek Brooklyn Bridge. I keep my M15 plugged into the analog input on my Brooklyn Bridge.
I don't have the FH5 earphones but I have the FH3 and FH7. I use the FH3 earphones with a Bluetooth adapter. I think all the FiiO earphones sound very good for their price.
Best regards,
John Elison
Concur with the earphone assessment, I'm amazed how the F5s sound. I can also see using the M15 as a source. Since I've gotten used to the characteristics of the M11 I really would like to hear the M15. They really seem to build quality products.
I really loved the two memory card ports on the M11. I was disappointed to see only one memory card port on the M11 Pro and the M15. However, the M15 really sounds better than the others with its analog volume control and the top-of-the-line AK4499EQ DAC chips. I just wish it had two micro SD memory card ports. DSD256 takes a lot of memory. ;-)

I have two Fiio IEMs. One single driver and the other is a hybrid with one dynamic and two BA drivers. You may want to look at another manufacturer called DUNU. They are a bit of a step up from Fiio and they have a great cable system. Go to MusicTeck to purchase and see all the other toys.
Thanks for the DUNU recommendation. I'd not heard of DUNU. Actually, I'm new to the field of IEM earphones so I probably haven't heard of a lot of them other than the standard companies like Sony, Sennheiser, Grado, etc.
I read the review of the DUNU SA6 that costs $550. I wasn't all that impressed with the review, but I guess I'd probably need to buy a pair and listen for myself. Unfortunately, I don't think that's going to happen because I've already spent over $1000 on FiiO earphones and I'm really pleased with FiiO's new single dynamic driver models, the EM5 and the FD5. Both of these cost only $300 each and they really impress me. They're the best sounding earphones I've ever heard -- better than my Koss ESP/950 electrostatic headphones.
What FiiO model earphones do you own?
You mentioned that you liked the cable on the DUNU better than FiiO. The cable on the FiiO EM5 and FD5 looks pretty similar to the pictures of the DUNU cable. The FiiO cable is silver plated coper litz wire and comes with three interchangeable plugs, the 3.5-mm unbalanced and the 2.5-mm and 4.4-mm balanced. I use the 4.4-mm balanced.
The FiiO FD5 is my favorite so far. It's machined out of staneless steel, so it's pretty rugged. I just bought a second pair to use with my Bluetooth adapter. Check out the link below for a complete description with pictures.
Thanks again!

One of the first produced by FiiO. Sounded great but were fragile and didn't last long (and I'm very careful with headphones/IEMs).
I have two of their cheap DACs and I'm really happy with them.
The problem is not that there is evil in the world, the problem is that there is good. Because otherwise, who would care?
Can you be more specific about them being fragile? All the FiiO IEM earphones I own are machined out of metal and they don't seem to be fragile to me. On the other hand, I own some of their more expensive models.
The connection point for the detachable wires might be somewhat fragile. I don't think they're meant to be removed and reattached numerous times or the connection might become a little loose. I haven't had any problems, though.
Thanks for your comments!

the cable was not detachable and that was the weak point. One channel stopped working after a couple of months. But I knew going in that the cables were an issue on that particular model because I'd read about it on HeadFi.
I'm not one of those folks who abuse iPod headphones either. I'm sure you've seen folks whipping them around whatever music source they're using and putting a load of strain on the cables. That ain't me.
I got my money's worth out of them and I'd buy from FiiO again.
