It started out with a Bose set of Sound True headphones that I picked up at a Bose outlet store for $60.00 a couple of years ago... Comfortable, came with a nice case, not the end all to be sure but a nice set of cans for the money... The upgrade bug hit me after a while, and I started seeing reviews about the Sennheiser Momentum series and I picked up a set of the original Momentums again for $60.00... WOW! Articulation, definition and imaging... the ONLY problem was the clamping force was just too tight on my head and the earcups were a little small. Then I saw a review by this dude on YouTube... Huh? Phillips makes serious headphones!?!?!? The reviewer is a little annoying, but the more I watched his reviews and compared to others I knew he was on to something.. I ordered the Fidelio L1 off Ebay (again $60.00) and unfortunately they arrived DOA and I was able to return them and get my money back.. In the meantime, another seller had listed the Fidelio L2 (which was really the pair that I wanted, and again $60.00) and I snapped them up! WOW! These have EVERYTHING that I have been looking for in a headphone and then some... As the reviewer noted, THESE are serious headphones! Gone is the tight clamping force, the earcups fit me nicely and they are well made cans that deliver resolution, imaging and detail that is incredible! I think I will be good now for the foreseeable future... That is until I want to spend $60.00 again!!!
Follow Ups:
ok, yes, he can be profane but he has real experience and can hear due to his trained ears. still, has lots to learn but he WILL learn and absorb.
he has an aversion to premium cabling other than the ergonomics of them. time will give him the appreciation for their benefits, perhaps when he gives long term listening the chance it deserves.
i skilled and reliable reviewer.

on his opinion, or I wouldn't have bought the headphones that he recommended... I just prefer my reviewers to exhibit a little more class and professionalism, and there are other YouTube reviewers that fill that bill for me. LOL.... His set-up / office kind of smacks of that show "Buried Alive", if you want to be taken seriously IMHO, you need to display an environment and a demeanor of professionalism....
so who are the other reviewers YOU trust? that would be helpful. i winced at some of the profanity and off-handedness of Z but ultimately, he can really hear and isn't the puff that he first comes off as.
seasoning he can use and as time passes, it happens. a couple of his peers are quite good but we can pick holes in anything and our criticisms will be valid. his foundation is good and most choices relevant. i'll be interested to see the ones you recommend.

A couple that I really like are Lance with Consumer Research Studios and as previously mentioned further down in the thread, Jim from Jim's Review Room.... YMMV...
Z Review does some crazy reviews....odd guy but is all-things-headgear.
Entertaining

Personally, I find him to be crass and a little repulsive but he does seem to know his stuff... The guy that I really like to follow on equipment reviews stopped doing them recently...
