I used the headphone output on a Marantz NA7004 with my HD600 for years and it did the job. Where you have problems is with consumer grade stuff like cell phones and portable players.
That said, you have a really good set of cans so you COULD move up.
Follow Ups:
The headphone amp on the CD-5004 is very good. I've used to for several years to power HD-600's; the sound is almost as good as the Marantz HD-DAC1 amp used in my main system. The CD player's headphone amp also powers Focal Clears very well. I only wish that the headphone volume could be adjusted with the player's remote!
I might check into a headphone amp or kit form if I could save some money nothing high dollar but, something that would drive the cans a little better if possible. Thank you!
this may be all you need.
Drop a Tung-sol 5998 in there.

The Crack amp is heaven with the HD800's at least. It's a SET OTL amp for headphones with impedance 100 ohms or above. Plenty of room to add a Corda crossfeed circuit if you like. The Speedball constant-current p/s upgrade is worth it. After a 50% price increase, the Crack goes for the astronomical sum of $315. ($430. with Speedball) It's an easy kit, though the Speedball option requires some precision soldering. Support from Bottlehead and their very active customer base is excellent.

Thanks for the great info folks!
