I need to get a new pair of closed-back phones. I've been subscribed to Massdrop for a while and like their marketing and product offerings. They seem to market "high-end" audio to non-audiophiles.They partner with Sennheiser (who I've always owned and am replacing, as I pass my old Momentums to my wife), Beyer Dynamic, HifiMan and other name brands. So they are not off brand.
I was thinking I could get a pair of these Meze's and a Topping DX-3 Pro DAC/Amp (with a AK4493 DAC chip) for around $330.00.
Is there a better deal out there for the money?

The Meze price jumped $40.00, so went with the tried-and-true Beyer Dynamics.
But then so is the MassDrop SENN 6XX at about $200.
I got the 80 ohm and a Topping DX-3 Pro to drive them.
I've always had Sennheiser's but needed something closed back for the office. Was interested in trying something new. We'll see what happens.
Yo What happened?
Cut to razor sounding violins
a couple years back, I think it was the classic. Started to like them until I noticed an empty hole where the upper-mid bass should be. Give them a listen if you can, maybe it was my particular hearing.
I have been curious myself, but never had much luck getting a good seal with closed. The 99' Classics generally seem to be well received.
Comfort does seem to be the main issue.KP

(whoops, left 'Classics' ot of title and text...)
