I just bought the same DAC, and I'm very impressed by it. I also own the Sennheiser 800s and will in the short-term test it out with the DAC. You've got to love the vibrance and excitement that this DAC offers without ever becoming fatiguing.
Have you considered upgrading the power supply to linear, such as offered by UptoneAudio.com? It's on my list of things to upgrade.
Follow Ups:
DO you have to 800 or the 800s?
I got some Dekoni Audio EPZ-HD800-HYB Elite Hybrid Ear Pads. Very nice addition.
Yes I have thought of a power supply. I am going to try it with a battery initially then build a power supply.
I work in the aerospace electronics business and a colleague is designing a power supply for my Pass Pearl II phono preamp. I will just build another one for the Brooklyn DAC +. I just need to find a case
I will also build a Pass DIY preamp for my Pass Labs X250.5 and will build a power supply for that too.
The DC ripple of the power supply will be in the microvolts. The output can be varied to work for the different applications by selecting a few different resistor values. The circuit board will be the same for each.
I own the regular 800; the "s" was to pluralize it.
You seem to have a good handle on upgrading. If you have any other ideas, please share them!
And happy listening!
