It fools you. The steelhead trout was fairly thick and more than 3 oz as well it was stacked in a second filet. The same with the chicken, there were two pieces stacked up.

That's good to hear, I have had a long career in food service, and I have a hard time going to trendy restaurants because I just don't get enough to eat so when we do go out it is usually ethnic food or old school Italian or French. I keep waiting for the small plate trend to end but probably not in my lifetime.

I'm with you. Our go to places are the local Village Pub and Curb Side for brunch.
We hadn't expected the trendy plates and were surprised to get a filling meal. One of our favorites in Catalina is still great, but the entree is just that. For a potato or asparagus, you'll play again about half the price for the entree.

For me it's not just the small portions but the plating which often borders on the neurotic. Arranging food with a pair of tweezers or piling it up like some demented Tower of Piza (pizza?) is not for me.
Keep your fine dining and give me a tavern-style pizza and a decent IPA.
