For those who know their reputation as proponents of upsampling but perhaps not the products in detail, their DACs do not upsample. You have to buy another box for that. These DACS will, of course, handle various forms of upsampled data when it's sent to them.

The DCS Elgar uses a crazy "5-bit 64x oversampling" filter. Basically a cross between one-bit and standard filtering.I think had DCS' DACs used no or simpler filtering, "24/96 upsampling" would have been DOA.... I personally think if asynchronous upsampling improves the sound of DAC, the base design of the DAC isn't so hot.
