Novel external terminals for output coupling capacitors
Posted by Duster on December 15, 2019 at 18:47:52:
Since the application is for a pro audio, electronic musical instrument application that might benefit from swapping-out various inexpensive output coupling capacitors based on their sonic signatures, I decided to adhere two 4-position barrier terminals onto the back panel of a tube preamplifier. The screw terminals are designed for small barrier spades that I'll solder onto the ends of various capacitor leads, onto the ends of the return wiring between the two barrier terminals, and the I/O wiring. I'll use very thin, high-performance, low-capacitance Mogami W3159 shielded cable as the I/O wiring by drilling four small holes through the back of the enclosure. I would not risk potential degradation of the signal for a home audio application based on audiophile goals, but this application has plenty of wiggle-room for experimentation. Waiting for a third pair of output coupling capacitors to be delivered for the novel DIY project. Should be great fun to fiddle with at the drop of a hat, and should allow interesting insights by the process.
Cheers, Duster
