RE: Euphonic by its nature IMO

Posted by HumanMedia on May 27, 2007 at 21:58:00:

You know Im going out on a limb here, especially with all the SWO-XXX lovers here, but in my epxerience the outlet is by its nature very euphonic and not neutral at all, probably due to some sort of hysteris or similar process arising form its platings.

It 'works' by pushing the lower treble/upper midrange and making it more pronounced albeit with a grainy texture, in addition to recessing the bass in parts of the range.

Im not saying its a dog, in fact the opposite as I have two in my system, well burned in with P-079 and love what it does to clarity, but I accept its not perfect and accept its grainy upper register as the small price for its good aspects. But this grainy-ness is why Im checking out an R1 (on its way thanks Alan).
