Eversolo DMP A8 vds AR CD3

Posted by JohnL on May 16, 2024 at 01:13:50:

Long time since I have posted. I recently bought an Eversolo DMP A8 Streamer/DAC/Preamp. I installed in it a 2TB SSD to which I can rip CD's courtesy of a USB 3 computer DVD drive.

Now, when I play a CD in my audio Research CD3 (with brand new CD Pro2 drive) connected to the Eversolo by a digital coax, the sound is laughably better than the same CD played from the SSD.

My expectation was that playback from the hard drive and AR CD3 should sound pretty well identical. But they don't. And it's not close.

Can anyone suggest what's happening?
