RE: John Atkinson's review of the Ayre QX-5 Twenty

The sound of the HAP-Z1ES is pretty damn good, especially playing DSD files downloaded from Acoustic Sounds. My Sony connects via balanced analog to an Ayre KX-5 Twenty preamp and VX-5 Twenty amp driving KEF LS50s supplemented below 100 Hz by a pair of Velodyne HGS-10s with SMS-1 acoustic room correction. The Sony doesn't quite have the magic, that sense of music just flowing unimpeded, that a disc played on the Ayre C-5xeMP can have.
