Nordost's new employee ....

Posted by Bhasi on May 21, 2009 at 01:57:30:

We learn from Hi-Fi Plus this month (issue 65) that the former editor has 'now taken up the post of Vice-President of Marketing for the Nordost Corporation'. The current editor continues: 'This does not automatically spell the end of Roy Gregory's words in the magazine, though. Naturally, products that are from Nordost are strictly out-of-bounds to him from this issue onwards; as, of course, are products from rival companies.'

I suppose it would be naive to be surprised or disappointed that such a career shift can occur. It's hardly a 'poacher turned game-keeper' situation (vice versa, if anything!), given the symbiotic relationship between the press and the industry.

Are inmates aware of other such moves - in either direction - in the past?

PS It IS disappointing to see the advent of unsigned, editorially-disclaimed articles, though: a backward step in my book - so much for the spirit of disclosure!
