RB300/Benz w/Pete Riggle vtaf alignment problem

68.94.218.153

I recently replaced my Bluenote U3 unipivot tonearm with an Incognito wired RB300 with Pete Riggle vtaf. To get the Benz Glider cart. aligned, I had to position the cart. to the very front of the headshell slots. This was not necessary with the Bluenote tonearm where the cart. sat in the middle of the slots. The U3 uses the same pivot to spindle distance as the Rega. I had to make the hole in the plinth larger to accommodate the brass bushing for the VTAF. My usual method for cart. alignment is:
1 Position cart. quickly using the MFSL GeoDisc
2 Then I go to a db Systems cart. alignment scale (2 points).
This system always works well for me because using the GeoDisc gets the cart. in the approx. position in the headshell before I zero it in using the db Systems scale. It hasn't failed me yet.
My question is this: Is the RB300 possibly shorter in length than the Bluenote? Also, did implementing the Pete Riggle vtaf change the geometry slightly? And finally does any of this matter as long as the cart. is aligned? I'd appreciate any input. Thanks, Nick
