Re: I find that for real dirty records, the Nitty Gritty fluid is better

I havent tried the Nity Gritty solvent for 25 or 30 years my late Father used it along with everything else, obsessiveness runs in the family ;-) For actual degreasing I've been using a janitorial product called H2Orange which is citrus oil and Hyd. peroxide it's completely harmless to vinyl or any other thermoplastic, it's a concentrate and very economical, at one time I thought it would make the basis of an excellent Record cleaning solution but it leaves a sonic signature and must be rinded well with RO or distilled or Vinyl wash. It is considerably less expensive than any commercial record cleaning solvent I'm aware of and it's an excellent all around cleaner as well, it's also an exssentially nontoxic and an amazingly effective anti microbial.
I've only had to use it rarely of late but I did have a really nice
mint Leo Kotke disc that someone must have handled while drunk and eating a really greasy Pizza.
