Re: Do we have a Headphones Asylum yet? A question on Sennheisers

I listen to headphones almost every night. I own two inexpensive pairs, Grado SR-60 and Sennheiser PX-100. The Grado pair sits unused and the Sennheiser pair goes with me while I travel. I like the Grados better than the Sennheisers, but the Sennheiser is one of the folding pairs of phones hence they win by default.

I have owned several pairs of decent phones over the years including the Koss 4AAs. I was spoiled one birthday with a pair of Stax Lambda Pros years ago and I have been listening to them ever since.

I have compared them to a lot of phones (including the HD 600) and I still prefer the Stax. I'm sure there's probably better phones than the Lambda's by now but when you reach a certain point its an absurd argument.

If you're going to spend any appreciable amount of money on phones do yourself a favor and check out some estats. Stax has great products. In all the years I have owned them I have replaced the earpads only once and thats it. They were'nt cheap though.
