Thanks! I really like the chrome ring too - looks great with the Morch. I didn't know Merrill made black powerdercoat. I suppose it would be less magnetic than the chrome (which can be a problem).Yes, I did add lead to the plinth - not quite 25#, but a fair amount to the inside of the plinth, underside of the metal top plate, and then spray-painted the top of the metal top plate with a decent, thick, crinkle-finish paint. I agree though, the extra damping, especially when the subchassis is kept nice and light, only makes the sound even better.
