I'll tell you what I know...

I have never asked him about specific sonic changes. His cartridge is a Rosewood Signiture Platinum and the rest of his system is of equal quality and it highly sensitive to external conditions. Systems and carts of lesser quality ans sensitivity will probably not be as dependent on tempreture. Once it is broken in, I plan on trying it with my cart, but somehow I do not see a high output Dynavector responding much to warmth. Never know, though.

Back to my friend's system...At least before we have listened he warms up the cart well in advance and leaves the light on during playback. The light does have, however, a dual purpose in that it allows him to see better :). But lighting for the purpse of seeing could be done by any light. He specifically chose that one and mounted it in his ceiling one to warm his cartridge. If the light did not do anything, he is not the type of person who would employ it. There is an archived thread on audigon about heating a cart which provides more information than this current one.
