Tis is why I recommend OPA-2604 op-amps for drop-in upgrades: the super fast (video) op-amps can all too often go into oscillation if the PS is not adequately bypassed, and the op-amp is not terminated with a 75 ohm build-out and load. The AD827 is such an oip-amp. and I bet it is oscillating, which is why it would sound less than as good as it should.
These kinds of op-amps are much more demanding in their requirements than the OPA-2604, the AD-827 is not even recommended for use in an IC socket, too much lead inductance!You can try adding 100 uF Panasonic electrolytics right at the op-amp PS pins from the bottom of the board, and some stacked film caps of from 0.1 to 0.33 uF right at the pins from the top of the board. If this doesn't fix things, sometimes a lower R load will help, try adding 1,000 ohms across the output to ground.
