Am I "nuts"? It seems to me that one should be able to directly couple the collector of a PNP BJT to the gate of a N channel JFET and have a single resistor serve as both the collector's load and the gate's grid to ground path. Obviously, the single resistor would be sized to meet the BJT's loading needs.
