Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |

Well, it looks like there is more to the cable TV ground loop isolator story than just build quality (Jensen ISO-MAX vs. cheaper brands). Jensen's previous VRD-1FF cable TV ground loop isolator has been replaced by the newer VRD-1FF model. The "D" would appear to indicate digital, in that it is designed for use with digital cable TV (and analog) terminals and digital modems. Since I can't imagine that a cheaper brand's device for 10 bucks will be suitable for digital CATV (which I have), it's obvious which device to choose, now. In this case, a high-end device is the way to go (this also makes it a lot easier to accept the extra expense). No wonder the DIY double baluns I've been using is unsatisfactory... Hope this info helps other inmates.
