I clean my disks by first blasting it with compressed air to remove any large particulates that could scratch the surface. Then I take a static/lint-free cloth and wipe it, always in a motion from middle out to the edge. CDPs are better able to perform error correction if the scratches are perpindicular to the tracks. Sometimes I need to dampen the cloth with clean freshwater to remove some smudges.
