In the mid '80 there were kits to eliminate clicks, pops and to build analog dynamic noise filters. They really worked, sometimes for more than a few minutes at a time! One kit had a six pin opamp that I misplugged. In a fraction of a second the top blew off of the package with a loud snap. Not my finest hour.
