The wall positin stil gives good pressure action, as this is the second most pressurized place in a room.As for use at the 1st reflection point, yes, they could be used theri, and you could adjust the amount of mid/HF diffusion by rotating the trap and exposing/hiding various amounts of the reflective side.
However, given the cost of the traps (even with DIY, a wall panel is cheaper and less labor than a trap) a wall panel is a better bet, and you can adjust the position of the panel to adjust the sound.
