Yes, I filled the speaker stands with combo sand/shot and that works fine in that design. Am not finished with rack. Will probably fill that with something NOT so resonant in LF, like wall gap foam. Not sure yet. Don't want the LF vibes up into the component rack; the speaker stand is properly isolated from that and works better with the mass in the bottom below the isolation.
There's no accounting for taste, eh?
