Can you describe the difference in sound between ceramic and wood lifters?To be honest, I tried with simple 6" wood dowels a few days ago and couldn't discern any difference. In a few passages, I believed I heard some improvements, but certainly not enough for me to conclude that it wasn't merely psychological. It's either my hearing accuity is lacking, some people are more impressionable then I am, or different ambient conditions affecting the magntitude of the difference (or a combination of all the aforementioned).
