Driver swap: Am I nuts?

I have a pair of Kef Q65.2 floorstanders with upgraded crossovers and damped cabinets. They sound great, but I have heard on this board and elsewhere that the newer Q series (Q1/3/5/7) have a better "Uni-Q" tweeter/midrange driver.

Being too cheap to buy a new set of Q7's and also wanting to keep my upgraded xovers, I am considering getting a used set of the cheapest new Q, the Q1, in order to yank the Uni-Q drivers from it and drop them into my Q65.2's. (The mid/tweet unit is the same across the Q series.)

Before everyone shouts "don't do it," I checked the specs, and the crossover points are virtually the same (120Hz and 2.8kHz for the newer Q7, 120Hz and 3.0Hz for the older Q65.2). The woofers are identical in the older and newer models (Kef B169 "racetrack"). So shouldn't I probably be able to keep my xovers?

Does this have a snowball's chance of working? Would I risk damaging anything by giving it a shot?
