Back in the bad old days when I had a Wadia DAC I used any number of players as a transport. To make a player work well you have to realize that in the front end of any player or transport the signal is Analog! Yes, a high frequency multi-phase analog signal. In other words RF! RF can be made better in a number of ways. I would first work on the main power supply, and then regulate (and add large value filter caps to it) the power to the laser driver IC and servo IC. Next, regulate the main processor where the digital out comes from. Then, improve the grounds by replacing thin jumper wires with fat wires. Last, put something heavy on top of the player, I used my pre-amp. After that you are stuck looking for a good RF cable to go to your DAC. That's another story.
