Shielding of internal tonearm wiring

Normally a metal tonearm will act like a shield for its internal wiring. But when I must select a kind of wiring for my diy carbon or balsa arm, what would be the right choice, when I think about the need for shielding?

I thought about some sort of very thin microphone cable: two thin internal leads with one copper shielding mantle around them. Both of the 2 cartridge ground connections would be connected to the shield.

Or is it possible to use the normal unshielded four thin wires without running risk of hum etc. even when there is no metal tube to prevent excessive hum?

I plan to use a normal MM cartridge on this arm.
