Well, not completely...

True, the music and thus the power behind it is far from a constant draw, but you neglect to consider the function of the power supply capacitors, which act not only to filter out AC but also to store power during periods of low demand and provide it during musical peaks. Still, that would primarily affect the bass, not the treble, unless the caps are of such a low value that recharging at 60Hz isn't adequate. There could be a fair amount of placebo effect going on as well. Of course, if the poster's amp has crappy caps then your scenario has more credence, he could be getting powerline sag caused by the amp,and he needs to get some 10,000 mic caps into his amp.
