I'm happy with the enormous amounts of black gunk that Flitz removes from AC plugs, along with its benefit in sound. If there were a practical tool to use it on the inside of the AC socket, I would try it there.The original article in Stereophile made mention that the guy who demo'd the stuff to Michael Fremer said he would get a bigger benefit if he turned off the power and cleaned the sockets too.
Aside from a thin screw driver with a cloth-like covering (I'll have to see if I can make this work), I don't know what you would use to do this. Pipe cleaners, while effective for cleaning ground lifting plugs and the IEC end of power cords, do not hold up to clean the outlet.
