Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |
|
An earlier thread has prompted me to ask a question I have been pondering for a few months. Has anyone tried a transformer output for the DAC in the Marantz 67SE or its brethren that use the SM5872 chip? It has been done sucessfully with other differential output DAC chips (see attached link). But I wonder if the 5872 can handle it. My understanding is that it lacks output op amp stages. This is good for tweakers who like to experiment with different op amps but may therefore meant that the DAC will not be able to drive a transformer.Any thoughts? Has anyone tried it?
cheers
David
