What a nice predicament to be in! I'd recommend trying to make it work with 2 stages (bear in mind that I've never actually done this with a PP 300B type amp).Depending upon how much gain you need, this would probably work with a 6J5 first tube into a Tango NC-16 (wired for 1:2+2 step-up).
The blue 27s *might* work here...you might also consider an input transformer for a little more gain.
