I read your comment and it made me think of one I just did to my Counterpoint Sa 3000 pre-amp. This per-amp had no fitering at the output of the high voltage regulator, only a disk cap. I added a 100uf cap there and 47uf at each triode half. Resently while buying parts I saw a cap of 1000uf at 250 volts in a small package. I bought one and replaced the 100uf unit. Now the preamp had BASS! With the first cap it had gotten much better and I just didn't thing about going bigger. Now, I wish I would have. I used that preamp for two years, now its retired and I use a Classe CP35 with mods. It has new IC's and more fitering. I still think of the Counterpoint and thats why I did a mod even when I'm not using it anymore. Good luck with your amp.
