is to use 10 gauge THHN solid and twist the hot and neutral together and then twist the ground over top in the opposite direction. It is up to you if the work involved in twisting the wire is worth the hassle.Now if you want to make a big step up consider running a 240 volt line and getting a transformer and run balanced power. But that is another post:)
In general, the use of Romex inside EMT is forbidden by code.
