Will be re-vamping a DIY power box, right now the connections are with wire nuts, but some folks say solder is best. It is star wired. Anyways, it does not seem like a good idea at all to leave soldered electrical connections exposed (potential for short!), so I figure I should seal the solder points. What do you think: is shrinkwrap safe enough? Is silicone ok, or will the acids in it corrode/damage the connection? What about sealing it with acrylic (clear nail polish?)Sorry if it seems a little dumb, but I want to make sure it's safe if I solder the wires together. I have a heavy-duty soler gun, will probably use Cardas solder.
